From Beck and Ford to Lilley Road, Canton’s road updates offer useful context for a home search. Here is how to compare access, daily routes and future construction plans.
A home can check every box during a showing and still leave you with questions about the daily drive. How do you get onto the main road? Which turn is easiest during a busy hour? What happens if your usual route is under construction?
For buyers comparing homes for sale in Canton, Michigan, the township’s 2026 road updates provide concrete details to investigate. They are especially useful when you connect them to the exact routes you would use from a particular home.
Which Canton road improvements are listed as complete?
As reviewed October 12, 2026, Canton Township’s official road construction page lists several primary-road projects as complete:
- Intersection widening at Geddes Road and Beck Road.
- A northbound right-turn lane at Beck Road and Ford Road.
- Pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing on Lilley Road between Cherry Hill and Ford.
- Pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing on Morton Taylor Road between Candlewood and Joy.
The township separately notes that a southbound right-turn lane at Beck and Ford remains planned pending bridge modifications. Its page also lists an anticipated 2028 start for the MDOT Ford Road Boulevard project. Completed intersection work and the future boulevard project are separate items.
What road news can—and cannot—tell a homebuyer
A completed improvement can change the physical route you use, but it does not establish a guaranteed commute time. Your destination, departure time and specific turns matter. A property on one side of a corridor may produce a different daily experience from a property only a few blocks away.
When reviewing Canton real estate, use the road update to plan your own route checks. Drive from the home at a time close to your usual schedule. Try the return trip as well; the most convenient way out is not always the most convenient way back.
A practical access checklist for Canton homes
- Start at the driveway. Check visibility, turning movements and the route to the main road. Consider the trip you will make regularly rather than only the route used for the showing.
- Compare more than one route. See whether an alternative works if your usual intersection is busy or temporarily affected by construction.
- Check the neighborhood street itself. A main-road improvement does not describe the condition or project status of every nearby subdivision street.
- Look up future work before committing to assumptions. Use current township and road-agency updates for schedules. An anticipated start date can move.
- Balance access with the home’s other features. Layout, maintenance, outdoor space and total monthly costs still need to fit your priorities.
Record your observations after each showing. A short note about the route can be as useful as a photo of the kitchen when you compare your final choices. Our buyer resources can help you structure that comparison.
How Canton sellers can use infrastructure updates
If you are selling a home in Canton, useful marketing gives buyers accurate information about the location. Mention relevant completed work when it directly helps explain access, and distinguish it from future construction plans.
Avoid promising that road improvements eliminate congestion or guarantee a higher sale price. Instead, combine clear location information with a well-presented home and a price supported by appropriate comparable properties.
For a more focused review, request a home valuation and discuss the competing listings a buyer is likely to consider alongside yours.
Is the Ford Road Boulevard project already complete?
No—the township’s reviewed update lists an anticipated 2028 start for that project. The completed Beck and Ford northbound turn-lane improvement should not be mistaken for completion of the broader boulevard work.
